Major Milestones of the Design Process
BUBBLE SKETCH
Alan created this preliminary site specific
Bubble Sketch after he and Peter explored our property site and we returned to their office a couple hours later to review our programming guide.
FIRST DRAWINGS TO SCALE
After the bubble sketch, Alan created interior and exterior
drawings to scale.
GOOGLE SKETCHUP MODEL
Our house begins to take shape as Alan used Google Sketchup to create this work-in-progress 3D model.
FULL SCHEMATIC 3D MODEL
Alan likes to get home owner involvement in the design process so he gave us a digital copy of his work-in-progress model and told us we could download a free version of SketchUp from Google. A couple months later and many late night hours of work by my husband we have a full 3D model based on the schematic drawings produced at the end of the preliminary design phase.
REWORK DURING DESIGN DEVELOPMENT PHASE
During the Design Development phase Donna kept us up-to-date via email with questions and sketches as she reworked some of the interior areas of the house. The following sketches reflect work-in-progress as Donna further developed the design.
Utility Room
Guest Bedroom and Bath
Foyer
Kitchen, Pantry and Drop-Off
Masterbath
DONNA CONTINUES TO POLISH THE DESIGN DURING CD1
In CD1 (Construction Design Phase 1) Donna began to focus on the porches and framing for the first floor of the house. At our May 5th meeting she told us she didn't know what the back elevation would look like yet but that it wouldn't look like the pictures of the model that we gave her. She was right! To our delight, the design just keeps getting better and better which also means more sketchup work for my husband.
